Twentieth Week Blog Post for Project

Project Blog Week Twenty:

This is my twentieth blog post for my modelling project, I moved on to create another object and this time I thought I would make an early learning toy for young kids (3+). I had a look on the internet to see what toys are out there and I found that there were mobile phones for kids  5+ which I thought would be good to make. The first tasks were to make the back case and the phone itself, so I first stretched out and thinned a square cube to form the right phone shape, then I duplicated it and made it bigger to form the case which I put on the back of the phone. The next thing I did was to select the front face of the phone then click the extrude button and deselect the selected face, I then shrunk it in and pushed down slightly to form the screen of the phone. The second task was to add in all the buttons to the phone, so I started with the home button by shrinking and thinning down a sphere to the right size which I put into place. Then I used a torus to form the outer section around the button, after this I made the back button simply by putting down a small plane then UV mapped an image onto it which formed the back arrow button. I used the same process for forming the question mark button. I also added in a microphone using a cylinder and a symbol for this to the bottom right hand side of the phone. Next I moved to the top of the phone to create the two top buttons which I made out of two shrunken and thinned spheres and then I added planes to the spheres and UV mapped images on to them, one was a microphone symbol and the other a camera symbol. The third task was to create a camera this was done by slotting in a cube and adding in a sphere shape which I then extruded part of the face inwards and fitted it into the cube. The final thing was to colour the phone, so for the case I used a diffused pink, for the phone I chose white. The home button was black and light grey, for the top buttons I chose a glossy pink and finally the camera surround was coloured in a glossy grey and the camera itself was a glossy black with a glossy pink outer ring. I then duplicated the phone to create a second which I changed from a pink case to a blue and the glossy pink sections to a glossy blue colour.
