Eighth Week Blog Post for Project
Project Blog Week Eight:
This is my eighth blog post for my modeling project, this time I moved onto making some toy UFO's. Firstly I created a sphere which I then flattened into a disc shape, next I created another sphere and placed it halfway into the disc shape to form the domed cockpit area. After this was done I had the basic flying saucer shape but I decided I wanted to add more detail, so I added fins to the back of the UFO by creating a cone shape which I flattened right down into a triangle shape. This I then placed at the back to create the fin effect. I then duplicated this UFO to create a second one. Having completed the two UFO's I added flattened spheres to the bottom of each one to create a circular shape forming a hatch for the aliens to leave and re-enter the ship. I then added two alien figures to the cockpit to make the toy more interesting. Having done this I moved onto choosing the colours for the UFO's. For the domes I went for a yellow coloured glass material, for the body I chose a glossy grey and finally for the abductor beam hatch I decided on a luminous white effect to give an eerie feel. For the aliens I picked a green colour and made them in a traditional alien shape. Although I thought this looked quite good I still wanted to add more detail, so for one of the UFO's I added an abductor beam of a blue/yellow colour making it seems more mysterious. The final thing I added was animation, the first UFO I made hover in an upwards direction then stop and fly off, for the second one I made the alien in the cockpit use the abductor beam to come out of the ship, stand on the ground for a while and then go back up.
