Twelfth Week Blog Post for Project
Project Blog Week Twelve:
This is my twelfth blog post for my modelling project. I mentioned on my last post that I had started to make my remote controlled sports car and controller. I decided to start by creating the controller for this I used basic shapes like cylinders, cubes and spheres to form a basic control. For the car I had already created the basic shape, this I then stretched the full length of the car shown in the side view blueprint. Then I mirrored this shape by deleting one face then adding a mirror modifier to the cube, I did this so that I only had to work on one side of the car as the other side is mirrored. The next step was to shape the front and back of the car by manipulating the edges and vertices by following the reference images that I setup using the top, right, back and front views. The final stage was to create the basic shape for the wheels. I did this by using the 'cursor to selected' tool which snaps an object to the selected face. The object in this case was a cylinder whose vertices I had decreased from 32 to 8, then I rotated the cylinder to lay flat on the Y axis. After that I shrunk it on the x axis to get the right thickness for the tyre. I then shrunk it down to the right size for a wheel and duplicated it to form the back wheel, the wheels on the other side of the car were created automatically as I had added a mirror modifier to the cube.
