Twentieth Week Blog Post for Project

Image
Project Blog Week Twenty: This  is my twentieth blog post for my modelling project, I moved on to create another object and this time I thought I would make an  early learning toy for young kids (3+). I had a look on the internet to see what toys are out there and I found that there were mobile phones for kids  5+ which I thought would be good to make. The first tasks were to make the back case and the phone itself, so I first stretched out and thinned a square cube to form the right phone shape, then I duplicated it and made it bigger to form the case which I put on the back of the phone. The next thing I did was to select the front face of the phone then click the extrude button and deselect the selected face, I then shrunk it in and pushed down slightly to form the screen of the phone. The second task was to add in all the buttons to the phone, so I started with the home button by shrinking and thinning down a sphere to the right size which I put into place. ...

Nineteenth Week Blog Post for Project

Image
Project Blog Week Nineteenth: This  is my nineteenth blog post for my modelling project and I will con tinue where I left off on the previous post. Last time I had already finished two of the toy animals and was working on the third which is now also finished. I decided to include a fourth animal to complete the  group and I thought a cheetah would be a good choice. I only had one task for the cheetah because the basic body shape was already in place, this was to  texture the cheetah by creating the traditional spotty fur coat. I did this by using the fur texture image that I got from the internet, but when I unwrapped the texture it only seemed to work with the body area and not on the rest of the animal. I tried various things to solve this problem but nothing seemed to work, so I decided to scrap the idea of creating a cheetah and instead decided to make a black panther as I thought this would be more interesting.  Having already got the basic body shape...

Eighteenth Week Blog Post for Project

Image
Project Blog Week Eighteenth: This  is my eighteenth blog post for my modelling project and con tinuing where I left off on the previous post I decided that, now the toy elephant and lion had been completed, I would move on to create a toy goat to add to the three animals I had already made. The body shape, head, legs, mouth and ears were already in place as I had already duplicated these using the lion format. The first task was to create the nose by first removing the  old nose from the toy lion and replacing it with the new one I had created. This was done by using the mouth section which I shrunk down to the right size, then I duplicated this section to form the nose which was more of a 'Y' shape than a round one. The second task was to add fur to the chin of the goat, this I did the the same way as the lions mane by adding in a hair particle system to an object. So in this case the object I created was an elongated sphere which I placed under the chin, this...

Seventeenth Week Blog Post for Project

Image
Project Blog Week Seventeenth: This  is my seventeenth blog post for my modelling project  continuing where I left off on the previous post.  I decided that my first task was to duplicate the lion that I had already created, but this time I did not need to select the mane or the fur at the end of the tail, as I was going to create a  cheetah.  After this was done I duplicated it two more times for an elephant and a goat. For the colour scheme of the lion I chose brown for the body area with a white mouth and ears, as for the eyes I decided on a glossy black to make them look a bit more lifelike. The second task was to create an elephant but as it was duplicated that basic shape was already in place, although it had a mouth section which was not needed for the toy elephant, so I simply removed it to allow space for the trunk. The trunk was made out of two cylinders one slightly facing upwards, these I shaped and then put together to ...

Sixteenth Week Blog Post for Project

Image
Project Blog Week Sixteenth: This  is my sixteenth blog post for my modelling project, continuing where I left off on the previous post. I decided that my first task was to finalize the front detail of  the car so I extruded it inwards, adding a grill and an air intake to the front by extruding in the new geometry that I created and pushing it inwards to form the desired object. The second task was to create the side body detail of the car, this was done by creating the basic shape detail using the right side reference image and then joining up vertices to form the shape. The third task was to finalize the back detail of the car, this was done by first selecting an edge and pushing it inwards to create this part of the back detail, then all I had to do was to create the back lights. The fourth task was to make the wheels look more realistic, so I created the wheel by basically creating new geometry, shrinking it in then extrudi...
