Twenty Three Week Blog Post for Project

Project Blog Week Twenty Three:

This is my twenty third blog post for my modelling project. On the previous blog post I had decided to make a toy dumper truck which I had started to create, in this post I continued were I left off from last time. The first task to complete this truck was to create the doors on the cab by outlining them, for this I used the same technique I had used for outlining the widows, I coloured them in the same yellow as the cab to make them blend in. The container was made out of a cuboid shape which, using the exude button, I created a new geometry for the top face, then I pushed this face down to create the container itself. After this I removed the back face to make way for the tailgate which opens to tip out the contents of the container. So to form this tailgate I made a thinned cube and I lined the whole container minus the door section with thinned down cubes and cuboid shapes, to give the sides of the container a thickness, I also added a bar to the back section of the truck which includes lights, indicators and a licence plate to make it more realistic. The second task was to colour both the container and the flatbed, the container I coloured in a glossy red material to give it that shinny plastic look and the flatbed I coloured in yellow the same as the cab. I now decided to move on to create my crane, but I could not find any tutorials on this and without much help I found it difficult to do, so I decided to change direction and came up with an idea for a fuel truck. The first task was to duplicate the basic body shape of the dumper truck, the flatbed and the detail on the cab. I then moved on to make the fuel container which was created by using a stretched cube, the edges of which I beveled to make it look more rounded, then I added three inspection hatches on the top of the truck for each of the sections in the container. The next thing I added was a fuel hose which I made out of toruses which I stacked on top of one another forming a coil effect, I then stretched out one of these to create the end of the hose and I put this on the side of the truck. Next I added in text to the side of the truck saying 'FUEL TRUCK'. My final task was to add colour to the newly created items, for the fuel container I coloured the main body in a glossy red and the top in a glossy blue, the writing was coloured in white and the hose and finally the caps and nozzle of the hose were coloured in a glossy grey to replicate metal.
